I just got a young gulper and he wont stop swimming against the glass after I turn off the lights and even sometimes during the day. Is this normal for a new fish? My Hujeta is doing it too constantly, they are both in a 20G growout. hujeta is 3" Gulper is 4"..:)

This is pretty normal if its a new fish. It just doesnt know how big your tank is yet and may have been pond reared or wild caught. Imagine if you were put into a glass cube but you had never seen glass before in your life?! You could put some black plastic/paper on the sides until it works out the tank boundaries but it will learn fast. For jumping species, it is a good idea to tape the lid corners/gaps or drop water level until the fish know the tank boundaries.
