How we doin??!!

Recently purchased a Pearl (Jardini) Arrowana roughly 4inches in size.

Since purchasing him i have not seen him swim at the top of the tank where he belongs, i know he swims there as i had seen him within the shop i purchased him from.

Also are there any tips and hints to weening him off of prawns and live food such as river shrimp and onto the pellets which i was so eager to buy.

All oppinions and comments welcome, Many Thanks

Will keep an eye on this one as i am having much the same problems with mine.

Where did you get yours from?

Thanks

How we doin??!!

I bought mine from a branch of Maidenhead Aquatics in St Albans, had an alright selection in their but not so sure now mine does not wanna swim where he should lol

Many thanks

Did you just purchase your Jar? It almost took 3-4 weeks for my Jar to feel comfortable in the tank and swim to the top, even now he's still a little skittish when I come close to the tank.

About the same time (3 weeks) my Jar started to take Hikari Floating pellets, during the first couple of weeks he only ate a few pieces of blood worms. You can try not to feed him for a few days and see what happens.

Yea, it's just a waiting game. You have to wait for him to feel comfortable before he starts swimming at the top. Is he eating yet?

Yeah, just make sure your water parameters are all good. For the first few weeks I didn't have a test kit so I was constantly going to my LFS and bringing water samples. Then they decided to give me a discount on the water test kit.. LOL

How we doin??!!

Yeah he eats fine but its the fact that he waits till he wants to eat it initially then once he has eaten one prawn has roughly 4-5 its just the lack of urgency into him eating the prawns and not waiting till they hit the bottom.

Many Thanks
