My new Jack Dempsey that I got last Tuesday have been swimming up and down the back of the tank for quite some time ive heard to sides to this, one that it's caused when fish are stressed out, and two somethings wrong with my water. If something is wrong with my water what would it be? I'm going to get a good testing kit this week, sorry I ran out of these test strips.

Lots of places to hide um some what bright lighting I don't know what to call bright

I've done a ton of reading and found that fish will do this if there environment is to complex, it's only a 55 gallon with two 4-5in jacks there a breeding pair. It's just up and down and up and down all around the back glass and sides. I've also read that there trying to find better water. I have an airstone in there and one small filter blowing bubbles across the tank and another HOB. Is the new tank just overwelming for them? I'm getting the test kit tomorrow I ran out of time today.

try keeping the lights off as much as u can, my firemouths used to flip out and do that every time i walked in the room when the tank light was on. i turned the lights off as much as i could and now they are fine even with the light on

Mine do it all the time. They eat well but the male would display to the female and try to get her attention, I dont see this anymore but they will swim up and down the tank together.

Google hahaha. Well Ill let it go for now if it continues then I'll look deeper into it. We did just change the filter for our water in the house. I've been doing nightly water changes to induce spawning I'll cut that out as well. I'll go get the test kit and i'll post the results
