Is it a no brainer to switch out 2 emperor 400's for 1 FX5? The tank is a 125 with 2 400's 1 Eheim 2229 and a 30 gal W/D sump. There is 1 oscar 1 RTC and 1 Lima shovelnose.

It is not needed. But if you wanted to cut down on electrical devices you could do away with all that other filtration and just run the fx5. Or go the cheaper route and just by a larger pump for the sump. A good laid out 30g sump should support a 125 by its self with no problems.

I don't care for my emperor 400.
But it seems like you have plenty of filtration allready.
There is never to much flirtation.

But i would run the FX5 with the other filters to establish BB in the FX5. then run the FX5 in till the RTC out grows your 125gal.

It seems you are pretty well filtered already. If your water parameters are good why buy another filter.

im just thinking that it will get the clutter out of and behind the tank
