I have a 25 gallon tank that is set up with guppies right now, and 5 ghost shrimp. The ghost shrimp have dropped babies but none make it past larval stage ... guessing because of the guppies. Oh well. Anyway, the guppies look beautiful and seem to be doing well, but I haven't seen them drop babies (At least without them being eaten) in a while. I would occasionally see one but it would be gone... Guessing they are eating them. Most of them are younger, but fully developing gorgeous coloring.

That being said, I'm annoyed they aren't reproducing (visibly). The tank is set up with fluorite sand that I will be planting some dwarf baby tears in when they arrive in a couple days or less... Was thinking that would help and just found a good deal on some otherwise I would have ordered them sooner.

Should I give them more time? Or should I switch out to some convicts? I know the tank is just about too small, and I have no idea who would take the guppies. I also know convicts might try uprooting my plants, but they might be okay if just ground cover?

I have a terra cotta pot in the tank too, if that makes any difference.

Anyway, I have a couple baby bichirs and am unsure if the baby convicts would be unhealthy for them.

Don't really want to use feeders on my other fish... (oscars, jd, severum, rays, rtc - no they are not all in the same tank)....

Thoughts? Any input for the guppies if I decide to keep them? I haven't been separating the females because they never look fat enough to be ready...

Well, I can say that I literally just did this few weeks ago, I had fancy guppys that bred for feeders... just like you, I only had like 3 survive and the rest got eaten before my arowana could even see them. I got some convicts, they laid eggs a while ago and getting ready for wigglers. I think it was a good choice, many eggs, none get eaten and I feel like they have more personality

lol yyyyyeeeeaaaaaa your probably right on that
