So I decided to replace my two penguin 350s with aquaclears since one of my penguins broke. Loving these filters already. So now I have two AC 110s and an Fx-6 on my 125.

can not go wrong with AC110, pull the charcoal bag and add another bio bag. clean it bi weekly and last you an easy 10 years. best HoB out there IMHO.

agree with pops throw some active carbon in it with purigen along the return flow itll keep yout water crystal clear.
you can pack the rest of it with bio and some floss.

Love these filters. I replaced the foam that comes with it with 30 ppi poret foam. Its much finer no need for floss.

Two AC110s and an FX6 on a 125gal.......overkill.........I like the way you filter!

With that much water turn-over, all you have to do is keep up with water changes(at the very least 50% per week), and you won't need carbon nor Purigen. I over filter all my tanks, do 50% w/c every 3-4 days, and my water is always crystal clear and odorless.

I do a 60% to 70% water change on this tank every week. I'm going to run another bag of biomax in each filter once I can get off work to get more. Don't really see the need to use the charcoal unless I'm trying to pull out meds or something.

ya no need for the carbon and does have a rather suspect link to HITH. can remove meds with a water change, and should. I do fin level water changes every Saturday, regardless if my nitrates are down or not. there is more than nitrates that collect in the water. like filtering, any thing worth doing is worth over doing long as it not hurt anything.

where do you get that poret foam from? Is it something you just rinse on a weekly basis?
