Switching Filters in 29g

Hi All,
I've been running a Aquatech HOB (walmart brand) filter on my 29g for almost 2 years now. I've read that aquaclear filters are much better and I want to switch filters. Should I run both of these filters for a while so that the good bacteria in the filter media will have time to grow in the aquaclear filter?

either put the aquatech media into the aquaclear or run both.
