Hi All,

In the planning stages here, was going to go Discus, but decided timing is not right for them. So, I decided to go with a low tech planted 75 with the following stock list:

Aequidens pulcher – 1 Pair
Boesemani Rainbow (Melanotaenia boesemani) – 5
Gold Barbs – 10
Albino Corys – 6

Planning PFS for Substrate with the plants being in pots or cut down clear soda bottles with eco complete.

Tank is reef ready, with an over sized wet-dry, designed for a 90 to 125. Will be upgrading to a 2 - 4 bulb T5 ho unit or led. Not sure which yet???????????

Experience level - 20+ years in the aquarium hobby from misc fresh water to marine/reef tanks. So I've got a clue and the dedication to do this. Please respond. Thanks all.

Sounds good, u can add a few more fish, such as a studfish or 2, a trio of mascara barbs, and a farlowellas or 3

Thanks, love the mascara barb, never heard of them till now, pricey little things aren't they. They made the list:), Might go with a few emperor tetras as well.

Appreciate the feedback.

For planted tank I would remove the blue acara pair (Aequidens pulcher) because they will breed constantly and will create their own territory place, remove them and add more Ruby Barbs, denision barbs and you will have an active cool looking tank. You would consider to add few octocinlus for algae remover.

Thanks Yuki, not really planning on a lot of plants, really love the Acara's. I do appreciate the advice and recommendations.

You can always do semi-aquatic plants if you want to keep cichlids like Pothos, Philodendron, English Ivy, Arrowhead, Arrowroot, Pineapple plant, Snake-plant, Zebra-plant, etc. Much hardier than most aquatic plants and don't need to be planted, just the roots submerged in water. I have always wanted to plant a tank/pond w/ Mangrove seeds as well

Thanks Frank, I've got an Arrowhead and a Philodendron growing buck wild outside on my porch, I will cut it back and get it growing. I've thought about it before but never acted on it. After you mentioned it, it got me thinking it would be kind of natural looking. And a lot cheaper. Again, thanks for the reminder:):)
