All my fishes are used to live feeders. I was wondering as to how I can train them to eat frozen bloodworms and the like? I am also looking to feed them pellets so that they can have variety, the right nutrition, as well as I think it would be cheaper for me in the long run as well.

I tried feeding them 3 half an inch sized frozen bloodworms and they basically ignored it. I am thinking of not feeding them today, Friday the 13th and then I will feed them bloodwormds on Saturday morning. Do you think that would work? What are your experiences in switching from one food source to another?

Any input is much appreciated.

Well this greatly depends on the type of fish. Since we are talking carnivores, I would just starve them for a couple days, and offer them food. Always works for me.

I will starve them at first. Do you think two days would be safe? I am thinking of starving them just for a day and then let them try the other food. I currently have 2 CK, 2 Indo Dats, 1 RBP, and 1 Peacock Bass.

Starve sounds appropriate because when you are starving, it you will almost eat anything that is edible, almost...

Fast is an adjective that is synonymous to quick, starve is verb meaning to suffer severely from hunger, fasting is to abstain or to eat little food.

I apologize but I can be a wise *** sometimes...

yea make a fish suffer....love it.

try putting the frozen blood worm cubes in a small jar with a bit of your tank water, and let the cubes defrost. then, shake it after a few minutes for the worms to spread out in the jar and dump it into the tank. The worms will be sloshing aroudn the tank with the current so they look alive. Always worked with my fish.

All my fishes are being primadonnas. I have starved them 1 1/2 days and they are still not eating the bloodwords. Well they have taken one or two nips at it but nothing special.

Starve Fast, its all the same. TBH you could stop feedng fish for a week and it really wouldnt harm them, they are oppertunist(sp) feeders in the wild

Ive heard of O's staring to death because they wouldnt take anything other than feeders. I had a GT that wouldnt eat anything other than neons, bloody nightmare to get him to take bloodworm, eventually he died. He was a hand in when I bought him, I guess his last owner couldnt get him off live food either.
