How long does it usually take bichirs to accept pellets when wild caught? Just got some from toyin thought I'd ask around.
I was think I might just beef them up with shrimp and tilapia with still feeding pellets to the one who do except them. Then just stick to pellets once that's done.

I agree with Mike on this one.

Feed very little starting off. For example, one single pellet. If they start swimming around, they will most likely try it.

Personally, I like to start off new wc bichirs with tilapia because they rarely refuse it, and it's important to get something in their stomachs.

Thanks Guys

I couldn't beef my bichirs up with pellets so I switched to tilapia. Plus it was cheaper feeding tilapia.

Little ones do okay with bulking up on pellets but, once bigger I feel the same way. I want to feed pellets to add variety to the diet.

The last 4 w/c bichirs I got from toyin readily accepts NLS pellets. They chowing them down till their belly is full.

Eat what I feed you or starve. I have 8 wc polys from Jurasic Aquatics that all eat pellets just fine. My 22" Teugluesi took nearly 3 months.

Yep, persistence and not caving is key, my F1 ornate didnt eat for idk even know how long when i was breaking it to pellet. It still only eats like 3 medium sized cichlid gold pellets a sitting, which is nothing compared to my WC palmas polli, hes a hog
