swollen eye

i woke up today and saw that one of my datnoid has a swollen eye. its about 20% bigger and is filled with a milky liquid or i think is liquid. the lens that covers the eye has some damage. i put in melafix, salt and raised the temp to 86.

is there any medicine/ procedure to relieve the problem. one of my past dats were blinded this way. any help would be appreciated.

its physical trauma dats are too territorial

just out of curiousity how many dats do you have in what sized tank

I reckon if you've got quite a few other dats or preditory fish, it could have been them.

My big Dat just did the same thing! I'm also treating with Melafix. IS this the best treatment? From what I'm reading it's a bacterial infection and Melafix is a anti-bacterial treatment.

my little thinbar has a bit of eye trouble a while ago and i just added some salt and kept the temp a little higher and did a few smaller more frequent water changes to keep the water quality perfect to help it heal.
its totally fine now.
