I have a Hericthys Carpintis with swollen lips. He is acting fine I noticed this yesterday. They don't seen to be getting any worse or better. All fish in the tank have been in it for about 1.5 years. I added my large Jag 2 days ago because of tank problems but he is now gone. I am almost sure there was no lip locks from size difference. Any ideas & could it be contagious? I will try to get some pics up soon.

I did some research and I guess it could be duck lips. Not sure and how could of it of happened? All I can find for treatment is low temp & salt. Very vague on treatment almost like its certain death. Any advice would be appreciated.

My beani pair came down with it during last summers heatwave, took about a week for each to die once it presented.

They were in a tank to themselves, but the tank was in a line(on the same pump with) 4 other tanks.
None of the other fish on the line of tanks were effected.
The other species were from warmer habits, (Madagascans) and I believe the beani's optimum temp range is a bit lower.
I now keep my new beani in cooler conditions, I am doing the same for a group of carpintus.
Low 70s, dropping to high 60s at night.

Hey thanks for the info, I keep my tanks at around 80. If he does not look any better tomorrow I'm going to add salt drop the temp & quarantine him.
