i've been keeping plants for a few years now but never really knew much about them. i've always really liked various swords. is there anything anyone could tell me about them? what kind of light? water param? temp? substrate? all those kinds of things. any info is appreciated. thanks

These plants are root feeders, and need good nutrient access by their roots. They are fairly undemanding otherwise.

I find most common amazon swords to be undemanding. Before I knew about plants, I would grow them in regular gravel and they did just fine. Some of the other varieties such as rubins, oriental, compacta, etc. may be a bit more demanding in terms of nutrients. If your substrate is mixed with a nutrient based substrate such as eco complete, flourite, or even laterite (though it is messy), you will probably due just fine. Otherwise, some root tabs placed a few inches around the base of the plants will be of help.
