Hey All

I have a swordtail, 6 red tetras, and 2 peppered corys. I just got home and realized that the swordtail was pregnant. Got any clue if the red tetras and swordtail breeded? or if it just got really fat?

:newbie:s rule

no they cannot

generaly fish can only interbreed with other species in their genus sowrdtails and tetra's are from completely different parts of the world from, completely different familes (let alone genera) and completely different orders, and they breed through completely different means (tetras, external fertilization and swordtails, internal fertilization)

But swordtails can store sperm from a male for a while, and often have several batches of fry from just one mating. It is possible it mated in the store where you bought it and is having a batch from that mating.
