Swordtail fry!

I posted 3 days ago asking when my swordtails were going to drop their fry, and i guess i didnt have to wait lond cause before school i looked at my fisha nd noticed one looked a bit skinnier and the gravid spot was les pronounced. I didnt thing much of it, then i saw a fry, i saw like one more then had to go to school. when i got home just now, i counted about 10-12 fry. It s awesome. this is the first fish i bred, the other looks like she is about to pop, so i wouldnt be surprised if she let them go today, lol. The female that already let some go still looks like she has a few more in her. im soo excited! I hope one day my Firemouths breed. This is way cool, when they get bigger, or if casn get some pics ill post..... Just thought id share......Drew

Nice. You will easily become overrun with the swordtails however im sure. Mine drop 30 atleast everytime they lay. I removed the males about 3 months ago so from what i read they can hold sperm for up to 6 months. So far in the past year we have produced a few hundred fry, and ran out of people to give them to and the LFS wont even take them anymore..

Also our eat like they have never eatten each time we feed (as do most fish) but i have noticed if I feed them about three times a day they are much healthier than if not. The seem to be deeper in color and grow much much faster. I do put them in a little tank to grow out in so my puffers dont eat them ALL..

Nice, not too tough though- variatus pop em out almost as frequently as poecilla. btw, is that your head next to that deer's anus?

ya im gonna feed them to my fish as well as to the pet stores around.
