I know swordtails arent really a monster fish but i would like to try to breed true blacks. I would most likely start with part black ones that over here are called tuxedos.

Any Feedback on this idea would be nice :nilly::nilly::nilly:

Yeah but would it be hard to make a almost pure black one or not cos i would relly like to see what it turns out like. Anyone have any pictures of any and if you do what other colour starains could i try to make/get out of swordtails

Black is possible. It will take some effort, but does not seem unconceivable. I have seen them before on aquabid. When you breed just take the fry with the most black in them and breed them together until you get full black.

There are those Blood reds I believe is what they are called and they are expensive. I think $20.00 a piece. The owner at my local fish store was offering me $2.00 ea. for fry. If I wanted to try and breed them. I decided against the hassle, but now I am considering trying it.

I would like to make one that is black or silver but not be a high fin cos there sort of ugly. Im not sire about the blood red but if i could make a fading one that would be really awesome

it can take people years to perfect a strain then you have to deal with in breeding and it can be complicated.with live bearers you have to sex them young as the females can hold sperm for more than one spawn so if a perfect female gets impregnated by a runt then she is waisted for months

It sounds like a fun project.

I just found a fry from one of my swordtails today he is half orange, half white and has eyes like an albino(pink). This has me pretty siked and I might try to perfect this strain.
