Syno ID?

Any idea on species or hybrid type of my Syno? Got it from petsmart as an African pictus lol. Was told it wasn't like the normal pictus because its African not south american. He grows like nothing else and I really dont know what he is.

Looks like an exact match to me! Thank you. Wonder what max size will be since its one of those unknowns.

It can be expected to easily live 30 years. I think 8"-10" in ~10 years is possible.

This is what I believe my syno hybrid to be as well. Mine is currently sitting around 9" TL.

Mine was 2" 3-4 months ago and now hes 6-7"

Wow! I've kept hundreds of synos of dozens of kinds. IME, such growth is a result of 1-2 years at the very least and usually longer even for synos that reach ~ a foot. Nice. Live and learn. Makes me really wonder about the possible parents.

I have a few eupterus and his growth is much faster than them and exponentially faster than my decorus.

I purchased this individual syno at a larger size. As far as the parentage I had just browsed planet catfish till I was able to find similar looking syno hybrids. Can not recall what was thought to be the possible parentage. Perhaps some brichardi based on patterning. Not sure which syno might contribute to the taller body shape.
