Hey guys, I baught my first cichlids for my mbuna tank today. I also baught a very cheap very cool synodontis decorus. He hides alot but aslong as he's happy and full he can hide all day long:D. Anyway does anyone know or have any experiences with these catfish? Do they get big? Do they like company like petricola?

any suggestions welcomed

Oh and I forgot to mention he is in a 55 gallon. Will he beable to defend himeself against mbunas?

Synos can hold their ground in african setups, they are more ideal for african tanks. Unfortunately, I know nothing about these species. How big is it?

he's about an inch long. He hides almost all the time but I do see him on occasion. At first I thought he wasn't eating but then I saw his belly

How big are the mbunas? It depends. I had some synos that held their ground against african cichlids and the synos was around 3-4 inches. The cichlids were 4-5 inches max.

the mbunas are between 1 and 2 inches

at ten inches I couldn't keep that many in my sized tank

Then yes, the syno should be fine. I wouldn't worry. Good luck with them and hope they do okay.

thanks man
