I have two large syno Eupterus (awsome fish) anyway I swear they where breeding yesterday I mean you know it's obvious in most cases. Do these cats just lay on the bottom of the tank? They both seem to be watching the area where the Big Event took place?:WHOA: Unless they where just engaging in some sort of game?

You sure they weren't just having a little territory dispute? Mine's very active but also aggressive, and I wouldn't put two in the same tank.

I two have not read of them breeding in a aquarium. One would wiggle along the bottom and the other would follow. Twice one was upside down under the other.....then back to the wiggling with the other behind. So who knows I am by no means a specialist on fish behavior but i noticed this as it was so different.. very slow. They have never had any aggression that I have ever seen. I realy just keep them as they are so unique with the large top fin they are a beautiful fish. Of course I tend to be partial to the Synodontis family. My only other cat is a old Raphael who is hand feed in his cave every night very spoiled....he was a rescue when his owner pasted away...I think he is very old .

Euptera breeding in a tank likely never happened or at least never was reported, AFAIK. At the hatcheries, they are bred artificially via hormone injection.

Anyway, I imagine you should see the female release the eggs and the male release the sperm. Just swimming around in an unusual way may be courtship, which is known even sometimes to happen between two fish of the same gender... kind of like practicing :) It does not mean it will end with mating.

I'm not realy looking for a bunch of catfish babies anyway:D. Whatever it was was interesting, never seen them acting in such a way before:popcorn:? As for the Raphael he was kewl with it as long as they kept it out of his cave!!!
