I have a 90-gallon tank with one of these Featherfin Squeakers currently inhabiting it with other upper tank-dwelling fish. I've tried introducing over 6 common pleco now to their detriment, yet one small clown pleco and a Spotted Raphael have escaped being mauled since I started the tank. I have plenty of cover for the plecos to hide in, and have even tried to rearrange the decor and plants to distract the Syno when introducing a new pleco, but no luck so far. Any ideas on how to safely introduce some good algae-eaters? Syno's too lazy to clean the glass along the front, sides, and back of the tank.

Why are you assuming the eupterus is killing them? Have you seen it attack them? Most synos won't do much for algae, especially eupterus. Brichardis are somewhat decent algae eaters though.
Common plecos aren't any better. Try a bristlenose pleco. And when you buy one, look at the belly. If it is sunken in at all, don't buy it, it's already dead.

Yeah, I don't buy any plecos if they have sunken stomachs, or just look somehow wrong. As to why I believe it's the eupterus, I've seen it nudging at the driftwood that the little clown pleco likes to hide under. My other fish are not bottom dwellers, save for the raphael, which is always hiding in a cave.

just because your fish aren't bottom dwellers doesn't mean they wont go down there for food.. just sayin

Did you inspect the bodies of the dead plecos? Were there any signs of being nipped at? How big is the feather-fin and how big are the plecos you're adding? Feather fins can be pretty territorial so it may just be as simple as adding even more caves.

And what other fish do you have in your tank besides the bottom dwellers?
