Hi everyone! Long time no post!

Decided to trade in my 2 big Syno Eupterus as I just don't see them often enough and they're taking up tank space...

My favorite LFS, Coral Reef here in Glasgow, gave me £30 store credit for them, which was more than I was expecting - bonus!

Picked these 3 little guys up mid week to grow them out as replacements. They were sold as Leopard Synodontis, but I can't nail down the species.

They're less than an inch long at the moment, so I don't know if they'll carry these markings to adulthood.

Anyone know what they are?

They are definitely hybrids I have a few myself.

Hybrids of what?!
What on earth will they grow into??

Its hard to say. Synodontis hybrids are the most commonly available catfish hybrids. Could be any type of combo. No matter what just looking at the babies, they will be cool as they get older.

That's why hybrids are bad for the hobby, who knows what they can turn into?

They are petricola or lucipinnis hybrids.

Petricola would be cool - I was hoping that they were normal Petricola, never thought about hybrids.
Are they common in the hobby now?
And what were they hybridized with?

Thanks for the info everyone.....

I've seen them as a Zebra Syno Hybrid over here. The biggest I've seen were about 3" and still had the same juvie. markings.

If they keep those markings, only grow to about 3-4" and are an active Syno, that's EXACTLY what i was looking for when I bought them!
Result!

I'll keep you informed as they grow.....

Thanks everyone.
