I have had an amazing spawn of synodontis petricola. I am moving in 5 weeks and have hundreds that I need to sell. Please let me know if you are interested. 20 1" Synodontis Petricola shipped for $100 total. Split an order with a friend or inquire about more.....Guaranteed live arrival!
Here is what a syno petricola looks like....this was the father. They are a catfish from Lake Tanganyika in Africa. Folks typically keep them with African cichlids. They do best in larger groups and tend to be more active that way.
I often joke with folks who don't have syno petricolas in their tank...why would you not want them? They are from Lake Tanganyika so go pefect with Africans, but also do fine with guppies and neon tetras.
My reasons for keeping them.
They will not grow big and ugly. They max at out ~4"
They don't steal eggs like Syno Multipunctatus does.....(That being said, I would take a bunch baby multipunctatus over a bunch of cichlids any day)
They will keep the tank clean of any left over food.
They tend to swim around in schools in a snakelike swimming action.
They are fun to watch.
They don't occupy the water column and add fish on the bottom of the tank, under rocks etc.
They are hardy.
I can drop 20 into a 55 gallon and they disappear, but when I feed, they swarm. 20 won't be "too big/or too many" in a 55 gallon tanks for a couple of years. At that point, they are great for trading/selling/or taking into the LFS for good credit. Stores around here sell them for 14.99-29.99 at one inch and 49.99-59.99 as adults.
When you get them large enough and they spawn, you can get a lot at once
