Hey all just wondering why large agressive mbuna never go after synodontis catfish? I have 3 petrocola in a 65 with some really tough mbuna lke zebras and they all fight amoungst themselves but never bother the catfish.

I dont think they see them as a threat. I've observed the same thing in my Mbuna tank and they absolutely never mess with the Syno.....occasionally over food, but never territory or caves. I have a Crabro that about 7" and they seem to hang out together alot, but never fight
the catfish have some rather sharp barbs on their fins my tangs seem to learn quickly its painful trying to go for these guys.
