Was thinking about adding one or two of these to my 125. Current stock is 8 clowns 8 geophagus tapajos, 5 acara and a BGK. Didn't know what species would be the best or just leave my stock the way it is. Filtration on the tank is an FX-6 and two aquaclear 110s, I run the tank at 79 to 80 degrees.

Which one? There are a few different types of synodontis, if you mean the smaller types; they're excellent little community fish, if you mean bigger ones such as eupterus...that's where it gets a bit hazy lol

Something that won't get any bigger than say 4 inches.

Have a little look at synodontis nigriventus, they are great little characters; and to the best of my knowledge should do well with your current stock

Synodontis soloni they get around 5" ,a bit bigger than you want but they do good with other community fish. Check them out one of my fav. synos

What about synodontis petricola? Small and under 4". Could keep a group of them.
