Synodontis waterloti Questions. (African Barbed Catfish)

I picked one of these awesome catfish up a while ago, he is very fond of one small cave under a log, and I rarely see him come out (as expected) but I have him in a tank with some African Cichlids, and i have never seen any food makes its way to the bottom so he can grab it to eat, His stomach is getting pretty bloated, and I wanted to know if he is malnourished?? Is it the same in fish like it is in Humans where your stomachs bloat if your underfed?

Feed 30min after lights out ... drop in sinking pellets.

or get some more synos to make him feel comfortable, they tend to be very shy when kept alone. Please post pics as soon as you can, if this is your first syno then you made a good start in collecting these cats.
