im having severe aggression problems with my 8 year old cat fish. back in the day he was in a tank with small ish community fish and i never really had any troubles. he has been in my 65g tank and was fine on his own and with my turtles. i put him in the 225g tank and he was attacking my 22 inch pacu. he has killed my ornate bichir, a large malawi, an oscar and a panga. after the attack on my prize pacu i stuck him back in the 65g.

here is where the trouble lies, he's in the tank with my 7 inch arowana. a couple of times ive heard spashing and have seen him kinda circling my aro.

ive had my fish for 8 years. i dont want to trade him in and ive no room for more glass in my flat.

any ideas what its problem is and how to sort it.

Is he just chasing everyone to death... or actually attacking them for prey... my synodontis frontosus needs to be in his own species tank because he hugs them all to death.. just won't leave any one alone.. as if he is starved for affection.. i am done trying tankmates with him.. do you have a pic of yours.?

he was swiiming upside down chasing my arowana. the strangest thing ive ever seen. he completely de scaled my bichir, same with the oscar. dont quite no what he's doing because he's not eating them. i'll try find some pics. he's a nightmare tho photo as he only comes out at night.

wow same thing here with his actions only i removed him before he could hurt anyone... just obsessed and not afraid of any fish in the tank.. he has lived alone now for 6 years... weird how they act like this.. and doesn't matter the size of tank or who is in it.. they are all victims... :(

You got any pictures of this fish? You sure it S waterloti?
What size is it?

Sorry for all questions :)

Was thinking S acanthomias, thats why i asked. Seen one at about 15" to, it was pure evil and would attack all comers :)

maybe you can put the arowana into big tank and leave the syn alone..in his own tank

i just dont think the aro is big enough. my pacu will eat anything. they are crazy. too risky. too expensive an experiment. tried it once with a panga and the pacu bit it clean in half. wasnt too bathered it was my brothers, but my aro....... na.

think the resolve is that he's gonna need to go in my 2 foot 'incase of emergency' tank. i know its on the cruel side but thats the best i can do till i move somewhere and get more glass.

what would make good tank mates for the catfish???

Well thats the question, maybe large African Labeo's might be able to fend these cats off along with larger CA cichlids. African pike might be ok as they are top water fish.
