I apologize for the really poor quality of these images. Had I checked to see if they were good or not while at the fish store I would have retaken them.

I am looking at setting up a neolamprogus brichardi tank and want to add a smaller species of synodontis. After some research I think these may be Synodontis "zebra" which I am really not sure I want to get. Can anyone positively ID these?

If they are S. "zebra", does anyone have pics of fully grown specimens and what size can I expect from them? They are currently about 2" long.

Thanks

Never heard this name applied to Synodontis decorus. It is a made up marketing name most usually applied to the most common syno hybrid also called valentiana syno, jaguar syno, etc. - http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=602

Anyhoo, this looks like a genuine decorus (stripes in the caudal and dorsal(?)) but also could be a fake one (no dorsal extension but it may be they are too young). If you can, check out mandibular (chin) barbels for branches. If they have the branches (they are far smaller than those on maxillary (upper jaw) barbels but visible), they must be genuine decorus.

Read their profile for more, this and others on scotcat, seriouslyfish, fishbase, etc.:
