Hey guys, I want to buy a Synodontis for my 55 gallon mbuna tank. I dont want to buy Synodontis petricola or Synodontis multipunctatus because they are way to pricey. I wanna know if I could add a Synodontis nigrita a.k.a the lace catfish. WOuld he be to big for my tank? plus should I add him before or after the mbunas are placed in. The tank isn't stocked yet.

Should work, and I would stock at the same time or after the mbunas.

I'd either put the cat in before the cichlids or the same time. It's too bad there's no-one in your area breeding Syno's; they've really come down in price around here since a couple people started breeding them a few years ago to about the same as the lace cats. Easy cat to breed, and you'd probably see them more than the lace cat.

Dude if I could I would buy tons of Synodontis petricola and Synodontis multipunctatus but they are soooo pricey!!! Down here the cheapest i've found them for is 50 bucks a piece!!! Plus they like to be around each other so It just wouldn't work out
