I was hoping some of you more experienced Syn owners out there could tell me at what size your Syn developed their nuchal hump. Mine is at the 10" mark now and has had a suspicious lump for a while now but his head has yet to pop. Could there still be potential there or is this just positive thinking? Here is the best pic I could get with my phone in a hurry. Sorry for the quality.

Jersey Brian- I'm pretty sure it's a male

tiger15- That is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping that over time something would click and it would start to pop up.

Also, I'm curious, for you people who have Syns with nice humps, what kind of conditions are they kept in. Are they solo or in a community? If they are in a community, are they part of a breeding pair, is there a subdominate male with them, or is it an all male community? I'm wondering which of these factors may play a role in nuchal development. I know that genetics plays a huge roll, and so does water quality but I'm more interested in the outside stimulus that could affect their growth.

get a female, that will sort it if anything will... my midas never grew his till i had a female, good luck!-)

I may have to do that. My lfs has a syn in that would be just about the right size. Unfortunately, I don't know if it is a female or not.

My 2 males at about 10". Just small hump
