That's exactly why I asked what size it was. It doesn't look like a Syn to me either but I thought that its color and shape didn't look right because of its young age. It's still a nice fish though. Mine gets more color and size every day.

Doesn't look like a pure Synspilum or Bifasciatus to me. First picture looks like a Zonatum. Second picture, not so much. Maybe a hybrid?

interesting, thanks for the input guys, the fish was sold as a syn this one is about 6" and has grown about 2" since i have had it and venting shows female. it is a mild mannerd girl so will keep updating pics so we can see what i have got.

just found these as an example, these fish show the colours and shape mine is starting to show especially around the face

It's difficult to tell from the photos you posted. Synspilum and Bifasciatum come in a variety of colors and shapes. Here are a few photos that you can compare.

Here's a juvenile (9') male Bifasciatum. The name refers (bi) to a double line along the body of the fish. The fish you posted above has an obvious single line. So I would rule our Bifas:

Here's the pair...BI-lateral lines not obvious here:

Here's an adult pair of Synspilum:

The last pictures you posted are of Zonatum.

The fish you posted appears to have yellow in the tail and in the caudal peduncle. Neither the Zonatum nor the similar looking Gutulatum have that color as adults. As juveniles they do have a light shading...but not to the extent seen in your photo. Here's the same Zonatum shown above at 6".

The "head shape" is common in the entire Vieja/Paratheraps group of fish.

thanks for that mojo ,the red/orange in the tail has become more intense since i have had it,so maybe a hybbrid then it is also developing some blue green and orange in the face, one to watch i think
