A short video of my new 4" Synspilum and Argentea. The Argentea has a bit of fin damage but he'll be all right.

I know it's been a while, but...update? If I had to guess, the Argentea turned out to be the bull, the Synspilum got chewed up? I just ordered 4 Argentea, 4 Zonatus, 4 Breidhori today. Kinda wondering what I've got myself into :)

I no longer have either of them. I picked up a lot of similar fish besides these two. My Argentea was not the dominant fish in the tank. He was however far too aggressive, randomly. It would be chilled out one moment and then hit a fish extremely hard out of no where and split their fins apart, and knock a lot of scales off. Basically, mine was an assassin. He wasn't with me for too long, only a few months. The Synspillum WAS the dominant fish in the tank for a very long time. Very aggressive, very assertive until the Bifasciatus I got outgrew her considerably. I sold her about 2-3 months ago in a mass exodus of all my female cichlids. I had some breeding/courting aggression that was just too much for my tastes. I only have males left now: Regani, Bifasciatus, and Midas in a 450g tank with loaches, and other bottom dwellers.

I hope that answers your question.

It does. I'm about order a 450 myself, and I'm trying to plan how to stock it. I was actually thinking it might be easier to just separate out females and keep an all male display tank in the 450. I'd have a 75, a 125, and a 450. I like Argentea a lot, and I've heard they are pretty nasty. Think I'll buy 4 small ones and keep the sanest male of the group.
