Synspilum breeding size/age?

Around what size will Synspilum start breeding? I hear around 4" but not sure.

On occassion they will breed at 4 inches. But you do not see that often at least in my experience. I noticed mine will start courting each other around 5 inches and start laying eggs around 6 or 7 inches.

i have had severalpairs breed at 4" ,i think if you keep them in groups they pair and breed earlier

Was gonna buy 3-4 at 4" and let a pair form.

not to thread steal but what size do they start coloring up

Mines at about 3" and starting to show color.

Try to prevent them from breeding when too small...three to four inches. My experience is that it slows their growth. Energy expended in breeding rather than growth.

I agree with Mo. I had a Cuban pair that I found paired up in the LFS tank. I bought both of them of course and they were about 3-4". They bred every 6 weeks in my tank and 6 month later the male was 7-8" but the female was still the same around 3.5". All her energy went into breeding and not growing.

I have two breeding pairs.. Males 6 inches and females 4.
