anyone ever keep a synspilum cichlid and oscars together?... i have the synspilum alone in a tank but want to move him to my larger tank which includes--> 2 oscars *(around 7 inches each) and a hampala shark(around 8.5 inches) the syspilum is a little bigger then all of them... do you think it will work out of should i leave them seperated?..
i thought before i tried and watched to see if there are any aggression problems i would ask

thanks

There will always be aggression with cichlids if you introduce them from what I know. And Im pretty sure of that too..

It would depend how big the tank is and how aggressive the syn is.. I wouldn't worry about the oscars hurting the syn. It's the other way around.. So it depends on your syn if he's the murderous type or not..

I personally think the syn will take over the tank since he's bigger and is a more stronger and durable type fish.. To answer your question best is you try it out..

I would worry about the Synspilum dropping him into an established tank. Syns IME are fine with other species and fight with their own kind. If he's tough enough to fend off the initial abuse, he should be fine.

trying it on now.. he is kinda bullying the hampala... not biting just "following/pacing the tank" im gonna watch it for a few hours see how it goes.. thanks for the responses

in my opinion if you change around the decor so that the oscars dont feel threatened as it shall neutralise the territory, and also drop in some dither fish such as arulius barbs that are fast and darty, it will share out the aggression and give the syn something else to concentrate on, it should :chillpill: him out a bit if he gets aggressive. what sort of size is the tank? just sit back n  keep a gd eye on them
