At what size did your males start to develop a nuchal? I've had one since he was about 1.5 inches. He is now passing 6 inches. I was just wondering when he could potentially start turning into the show piece I'd like him to be. His colors are great. Now, I'm just waiting for the shape I'm looking for.

I think because they get to be a larger fish, hump comes later in males, mine are small now,no signs yet but the pics I see seems 9 or 10 inch fish start to show.I have read they max out at 16 inches!

how about pictures guys? :)

here's mine at 7" no hump or bulk yet. Not adult form yet. I'll say a real hump will start when the fish start the bulking. I think that's after 12" length then the bulking begins.

This why I think it is so difficult to sex them at a young age.

I think mine is female, but it hasn't laid eggs yet. I always see this in any female cichlid that is at least at 6".
