syphon problem with hang on wet/dry sump.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
take some of that air line and put it in the clear u tube and suck that air out and then you should be good

penguin 660 powerhead

This is a sub 200gph water mover, am I right?
Pretty interesting set up you have. Is it part of a "kit" aquarium?
Can`t recall seeing one like it before.
Seems like allot of stuff for so little flow.
As said, usual method of getting the "U" tube flowing is with a piece of tubing and some suction from you.
On some of the poorer designed overflows a pump, like an Aqualifter, is needed to maintain flow.

I'm with Kaiser....never seen anything like that before.

thanks for the tips everyone. the hang on is actually called "mighty max" from truvu this one was customized for the hex design. i've seen others but none like this with the extra curve. i tryed the tactic you guys mentioned but the water just stays there and doesn't flow over and when it does its just a slow spill over. is that normal? is there any way i can get it to flow over faster becuse my return pump is not adjustable and a bit too fast for it and makes a gurgle. thank you guys for your time.

With not being there, any advice is a guess.
Sometimes an “educated” guess, but still a guess.
I`m leaning towards the powerhead not giving your system enough flow.
That “U” tube has the potential to flow much more than your pump can deliver.
It can only flow as much water as the pump runs back into the tank.
I know, that seems backward.
Just what I got from how you describe your problem and some of the things I have found while building various filter systems.
Are you sure this combination was used the way you have it set up?

hey guys my girlfriends uncle came by yesterday and suggested that i add another "u" tube for more water flow, and to place my powerhead up a little higher rather than having it sit on the bottom of the return area. im going to try all these tips today.
