Hey everyone,

I got a group of 6 T. Aureus a few months back all from the same batch and was hoping I’d come across at least one pair or some male and females. So far I’m pretty sure they’re all males. Can anyone help sex these guys if possible? Attached is a link to some pics/vids I took this evening. I appreciate all of the help.

There really aren't any obvious gender differences in these.
At maturity, male are said to have slightly longer fin extensions and (to me) are built bulkier than females, the females "may" also be slightly less bright in color.
In nature their breeding season, begins in March, toward the end of the dry season when water starts to warm up, clarity increases, and flow slows.
The pH may also be at its highest point (up to almost 9), before rains come and drop it to its more normal and neutral side (above 7).
They are also said to spawn in areas where heavy leaf litter accumulates in nature.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for the great info! I suppose I will just have to keep an eye out for any pairing off. They are still fairly young although I think I can definitely pick out the males based on size and growth compared to some of the others.
