I've always loved archers, but have never had a big enough tank to keep them. I recently heard about T. microlepis, which has a max size of about 6 inches. Anybody have any experience keeping these? What size tank would you recommend for a school of 5? What tank mates would you recommend? (No monos or scats...again too big for me to handle right now).

if you can find them i would mix them with some orange chromide cichlids and some bumble bee gobies. you would probably be ok with 55 gallons of water in the tank.

I have been doing a lot of research into archers as well. These are really cool little fish.

From what I understand, a 55 is the minimum for a single archer, but they aren't recommended in groups smaller than 4 and four archers needs at least a 125.

I have been looking into getting one of the freshwater species (one article listed this species as being a slight brackish to freshwater that could be kept long term in pure freshwater).
