I adopted 2 Tetraodon palembangensis 6 days ago, with a little cloudy eye condition on upper eye region.. After 6-day observation (today), I noticed one of them suffering a fungal infection on the eye. And the other showing the same symptoms. Here's the tank's water parameter:

ph:7,0 | GH: 8 dH | Kh: 4 | Temperature: 26-27C
Water quality: NH3+NH4:0 | NO2: 0,1ppm | NO3: 40ppm

Tank mates: 14 Polypterus (Size: 20-30 cm) & 2 Plecos.

Here's a picture of him:

I've isolated this one in a quarantine tank (60L) and given him half-dosage anti-ich medication, also 5 teaspoon of salt. Am I doing this right? Any other advice?

The puffer is still eating, I gave him 10 Clarias bathracus and they're gone within minutes. Still voracious as ever.

One more thing. Since puffers are scaleless, does it mean I have to give the medication not full dosage?

It actually does look like ich to me. Ich meds are very dangerous to puffers. I'd treat as per this article & add Melafix/pimafix, along with an extra source of O2 to the tank.

If it is indeed ich, you may want to raise your tank temps to 30(C) Degrees coz i've heard that 28 degrees is optimal breeding conditions for ich, and at 30, it kills it...

At least thats what i normally do while medicating my palembangs to help kill off the rest of the ich in the tank...

Actually, doesn't kill it per se--mort like speeds up their life cycle, so they leave the host animal faster.

^ Thanks for the correction PP

Thanks for the replies. I've done a 50% water change this morning, added 5 tsp of salt, and raised the temperature to 30C. I've also isolated the other puffer into this quarantine tank, even though its condition isn't as bad as this one.

Hopefully they will get better soon.
