Aqua-Medic claims that mixing plant growth lamps with ocean white (10,000K) lamps is a good idea. From all my research, I tend to agree. I'm thinking of 4 plant/2 white for my 6 lamp hood on a 50 gallon.

I'm no expert at this, anyone have opinions/comments?

I'm no expert by any means either but 4 planta and 2 10,000K bulbs should be fine for your plants. If you are truly using HO t-5's though you are going to have a hell of a lot of light so you better have the co2 and ferts ready or you'll be growing enough algae to fill a small pond. In general, I think plants will do fine with light in the 5500-10000K range as long as there is enough of it. I wouldn't go above 10 or 12K though and you should probably stay away from actinic from all I've read.
