so I have a hagen glo 48" dual t5h0 fixture, and when I went to flip it on this morning it did something very odd..... it turns on for about a few seconds then shuts off ... I thought oh maybe the outlet isn't good, so I tried another outlet same thing and then thought of maybe the timer is pooped took it off and plugged it straight into the wall and same thing... bulbs are good I just had the light on the other day too without any troubles .. one bulb s maybe a year old other is couple months maybe anyone know ? or able to help?

as long as the connections are OK as in un-rusted contacts, it's probably a bulb. test them in another fixture if possible, otherwise it's the ballast. not too much involved in lighting.

nope shouldn't be any rust, closed tanks its whole life ..... no other fixture to test the bulbs in lol how else would I know.... take one bulb out and see if t works ? when it turns on wen I plug it in both lights turn on

well I tried a old bulb I had here and took the older bulb out I have in it, and well sure as heck it works fine so I guess the one bulb is toast... sucks cuz it isn't very old lol ...
