Hi all, wondering if anyone is keeping multiples of this species at once and/or what behaviors they notice from them. I've read that they're very dimorphic size-wise and want to see pictures of a female. I currently have a male measuring 10" TL that is somewhat aggressive. I'd love to learn more firsthand about this species but it seems quite uncommon.

About 10 tears ago I kept 5 in my 130G tank with other catfish species, starting with 1 1/2 " juveniles. Don't recall any behavior problems. I had a mix of males and females, the males grew to 12" but the females only grew to 5". Unusual among catfish species in general as with most the females tend to be the largest by far. One good thing with these is they don't need a heated tank as they can tolerate colder water but do well in heated tanks kept on the 70"s at least. I sold 3 of them to someone who wanted to keep them in an unheated outdoor pond in here in SoCal, I heard from him the following year that they did survive over winter with water temp's dropping into the 50's. They seem to be rarely imported as I haven't seen any for sale in years but seem to be a common fish in Asian countries and are bred as food fish. I found a couple of old photos…

A-ah, the good old Tawny Dragon catfish is being dragged out and dusted off :)

Very few people on MFK keep them, probably no one active anyway...

IIRC, Wes had them not too long ago, within last year, on his offer list.
