I was fiddling with refining an idea about filter floss and pads, especially after the low quality poof stuff I got. So my shipment of the branded, good stuff came...

Mass vs density. Compare the difference in 5lbs filter floss. On the left, the puffy soft crap sheddy stuff. On the right, the good stuff (Acurel) with long fibers that don't break.

Make your super water polishing sandwiches. Easy peasy...start with filter sleeves. I went with the larger Marineland to fit the Aquaclear 110s. There's a smaller size too.

Stuff like a taco with a small amount of floss, packed toward the center. Finish up by sliding into open mesh media bags. Squeeze in a bucket of water.

And there ya go.

You may have to test the flow rate. The sleeve can always come out of the bag if that's an issue.
