Whats up, Ill start off with the question. Id like to know of some nice free swimming Tanganyikan cichlids. As some of you know I recently lost all of my fish in an unfortunate incident, about 30 peacocks, haps, and mbuna. So im trying something new and doing a taganyikan tank. the tank is a 125 with 250 pounds of lace rock piled on both sides (planning to put shellies in the middle). Most of my fish as of now are rock dwellers but Id like some tangs that will be middle or top swimmer / small schools would be nice.
so far my stock consists of :
1-neolamp. cylindricus
1-5 bar cichlid
1-tanganyikan crab (couldnt pass this little guy up when I saw him)
2-juli. marlieri
1-tropheus duboisi
2-neolamp. leleupi
1-brichardi
1-altolamp. compressiceps lufubu-dark red
1-altolamp. compressiceps kambwimba - yellow
* I also have a red top hongi, I know not a tang, but I love these fish and hes doing great in there. no problems.

All the fish are 1" - 1.5" except the comps they are a bit larger, b.c. of there slow growth rate.

What do you guys suggest.?
Thanks

im a little uncertain about more tropheus, even though a nice school of 13 would be nice, I have read they can be problematic b.c. of aggression. I dont want this semi peaceful tang tank to turn into an mbuna style war. im testing the waters with this one duboisi.
I do like some CYPRICHROMIS such as the tri color, do you know if they are schooling fish?

I have always had people that I know keep 13-15 tropheus any less and it's a blood bath. They also had to add them all at the same time or around the same size.

hmmm the bathybates would be cool but I think they get too big for the fish I have and they might be alittle to ferocious for this tank. And rhamphochromis are malawi arent they?

is it me or are tanganyikan cichlids kind of limited in the selection.

Cyprichromis would be a great addition... I'd get rid of the one Tropheus you have even though they'd be a great fish to add to the tank...Where did you get your Tanganyika Crab?... I saw them about a month ago on cichilds.net and ever since I've wanted one for my 55 gallon Tanganyika tank... I contacted them and they said they should have more at the end of the month...But maybe some Xenotilapia?... You also have a lot of Rock dwellers... Be careful of that

Well the tropheus is on a trial basis right now, im thinking if I keep just one and raise him from a juvi with all the rest he will be ok. we'll see. I got the crab from a local spot thats the size of a closet. but they make up for it in the quality and rarity. he is a cool addition. I dont see him to often but when I do hes cool to watch, I really hope he survives because I think I have a murder in the mist. A few fish have seemed to dissapear and the snails were ripped apart. hmmmm
