I'm looking to buy around 300 pounds of tahitian moon sand. I think I found the cheapest route. I can get it for about $189 shipped. However if there is a cheaper alternative I would love to save money any way I can. I do not want black beauty, but I have heard of the 3M black sand. Anyone have any input on this matter?
Thanks

I have 120 pounds of it in buckets. I took it out because I grew tired of the black. It's nice stuff though.

Just a note, be careful washing that stuff. It's REALLY dirty and cut the **** out of my knuckles--it's pretty rough.

Thanks for the input. I have no expriene with the stuff. I've used regular sand but never this stuff. I love the way it looks though.

I set up a 100 gallon tank for my dad over Christmas with Tahitian moon sand. I did the old fill the 5 gallon bucket with sand, add water, agitate with your hand, drain and repeat method. All of my knuckles were cut up from the pressure of my hand against the side of the bucket with sand.
I have heard of another method where you get a clean pillowcase, fill it with sand, and run water through it to clean. Havent tried it, but might be worth a shot. I would use a new pillowcase that hasn't been washed with any detergents.
