You really don't see them much. I've only seen them once since I got these, from TUIC. He wants $25, I got these guys for I believe $12.95. :D

Nice fishes.

How big are they? LFS here has some but nothing like those.
Thanks! They are around 3.5"-4".

Best photos I've seen of this fish. How long have you had them? How are they to keep?
Thank you very much!
I've had these guys for around a year. They were skinny little guys when I got them. "More little gray fish", as my wife called them. They are pretty feisty little guys, but not really aggressive, if that makes sense. They are in my eartheater community and they seem to get along well with everyone except my dominant Male G. steindachneri. It is funny to see the two of them working together to challenge a fish that is probably triple their mass.

Thanks, I'm very glad I picked them up. I got them at The Wet Spot last year, they were either $9.95 or $12.95 (can't remember for sure) at around 1.5".

Very nice, I'm jealous. I regret not picking some up from Grey last year.

Price sounds about right, they were $20 at our LFS a couple years back. Of course, they got them through The Cichlid Exchange so of course they cost more than directly at The Wet Spot.

They are beauties for sure, probably the best pics of adults I've yet seen. As someone else has mentioned, usually the pics are of juvy's or subadults.

Any breeding behavior yet?

I just have the two, so I really don't know if I have a pair. From what I've read, there aren't any easy distinguishing features as to gender. They do "hang out" together, but they also occasionally spar. I tend to think it might be two males, but I really don't know.

If they both have doral/anal fins like the one in the bottom pic, I'd tend to agree that they might both be males. In the subadults APFP had, they have several more colorful ones with fins like yours and many more that were smaller with much shorter, rounded unpaired fins and that were much less dull.

If the sex out like most acaras, I would have assumed the differance to be male/female ... but these are so rarely kept I wouldn't bet money on that fact.
