I need help with a bit of detective work.

I have a fish in my tank that is currently busy destroying my Male GT's tail and it is driving me up the wall.

The trouble started Wednesday when i removed a plastic rock thing that i had in the tank and placed 4 or 5 new pieces off driftwood in there.

My Tank is 150Gal and the inhabitants are the following:

2 x Jags
1 GT
1 Tex
1 Salvini
1 Severum
1 Nicaragua cichlid
1 Clown Knife
2 x Convicts
4 x Silver Dollars

Inhabitants are all over 8 inches except the CK witch is about 2 foot and the convicts are about 6".

I have a suspicion that it might be the Nicaragua Cichlid or the Salvini but im not sure.

Which fish would you guys suspect to be the culprit ?

I have been researching salvini for my tank and this sounds to be right up their alley

His fins are totally fine, so he might be the culprit.
Im going to add some more wood to the tank later today so hopefully i can give the GT even more "hiding places"

This GT is about 12 inches and one mean glass banger so it is kind of strange having to supply him with a hiding place from smaller fish.

I know this happens @ night so it is most probably when the GT is sleeping.

when i had convicts in with my male GT they used to nip and run because he was too slow to catch them. could them too.

Salvini all day. Those guys are lil jerks, I used to wonder who was messing up my jags tail til I caught the sal playing "hit and run" with him. The jag was a good 4"+ bigger than all other tank inhabitants at the time.

I am 90% sure its the Salvini, the Convicts tails are also damaged and the Salvini's tail is 100%.
The GT occupied a new cave next to the Salvini and i suspect that the Salvini enjoyed playing tag with its tail during night time.

I added some more wood and tried to "enclose" the Salvini's hiding spot so that the GT can't stay next to him.

Hope that works.

I had this prob with my Thorichthys Mixteco and it ended up being the Clown Loach LOL.

In your case I would suspect the Salvini.
