I have a 5.5" endli who has managed to split his tail fin in multiple places.
Here's what I mean, the tail fin ofcourse has ?spines? with fleshy webbing inbetween right?

Wel the spines are OK, its just that the webbing in between is now split, separating the spines.

I believe he did it trying to go after some feeder guppies I have breeding in an artificial plantlike fry mesh. its plastic and quite dense. However, he still scrambles and bulls his way into it to lie in wait to snatch up lunch.

I think he's tearing his tailfin on this material as he whips his way out.

Is this cause for concern?
Any suggestions on what I should do?
I'm picking up a 55g tank friday for my feeder breeder, and will be taking this material out.

I don't keep Endlis, but I suppose, whilst it should heal quite nicely, you may want to remove the identified cause, whatever that may be. Doesn't make sense to continually damage the fish even though it might not necessarily cause extreme harm.

He will be fine, keep a look out for infection though
