tail growth

i was wondering when some one trims a tail if its torn up does the tail fin grow back from the area that you cut or from the base out?

Why would you trim the tail? What type of fish, and how bad is it? If a fish has a torn fin it will most likely regenerate, depending on the extent of the injury.

i dont have a fish that has one ive just read about people with like arrowanas that trim ripped up tails and i wondered if it regenerated from the area u cut or from the base out.
