Please help me identify this. I've looked at other photos of tail rot and I'm having difficulty knowing if this is that. Just lost my favorite fish to what I now think was Malawi Bloat:

picture.php

^ there he is r.i.p.

While staying on the bottom, he picked up tail rot which I thought was his main malady, and used 4 tsp of Melafix 'botanical extract of Tea Tree' in my 20 gallon as prescribed on the bottle. Had an Acai that started really acting oddly the next day, darting around sporatically and showing open sores on his head. Since the Bumblebee and Jewel began attacking him anytime he came near them after previously getting along fine (and since I have no extra tank...will come back to this), I went ahead and flushed him :( I might add that first I did a 90% water change in case the medication affected him badly, but he didn't improve after about two days. At any rate, the Bumblebee's tail has concerned me and I would appreciate any help. He is eating well and appears happy as a lark and plenty energetic. I do have a 5 gal tank that I am going to set back up since it seems that it really is a necessity to have an extra. Took one photo with flash and one without:

Thanks for your help.

he's probably thinking - - like I am - - that it just doesn't look like there is much damage to the fin . . .

Look at my user name. What may seem like an obvious question to someone with experience was nonetheless an honest one. I caught ich on one of my fish when there was just one spot. I just get concerned when my favorite one dies with his tail completely rotted away, then see something on another fish after never seeing any damage to his tail before. Maybe best to post questions elsewhere.

I can't speak for the other posts, but I wasn't trying to be dismissive, I just didn't think there was anything serious, and I suspect the guy who posted WTF didn't think so either

I honestly don't see any damage to be concerned about . . . sorry if it didn't come off right . . .

stick around, enjoy the forum; it's a good one

Minor fin loss... may or may not be due to nipping and/or fighting. Could possibly be stress related (change in pH, elevated nitrates, temp flux)... delicate fins usually suffer first. Or even possibly due to sharp/rough edges in your tank.
