I was at my LFS today and they had a tailess bloodparrot. I was talking to the owner of the store and he said it was bred to be that way and because it is a "tailess" and is 5 1/2" it would sell for $1200 - $1500.:eek:

Do they really cost that much?
 
nope that LFS person is lieing to you. more then likely its because they were lied to as well.

the tails are removed at a very young age. then treated with some anti infection meds of some sort and nursed back to proper health.

That LFS owner needs to head over to Walmart to see that those parrots definitely aren't worth $1200. Sheesh. And what a cruel thing to do to a fish, he shouldn't even be selling them in the first place.

try more like $12-$15
 
Where in Pa are you? If by Erie, I'll stop in and talk to the guy too, esp. to encourage him to stop selling such fish.
you sure you didnt mean 12-15 bucks as dmopar said?
